Year 1100. Italy. The Northern lands are ruled by a German emperor: Fredrick aka "Barbarossa”. His dream is to conquer also the lands in the Center and in the South so as to revive the Empire that was once of the one Charles Magno. But in the North a young man from Milan has formed an army of 900 young men coming from different cities: the "company of death". This young man's name is Alberto Da Giussano. It’s the story of two men: Lupo Tintori, serial prison escapee, and Francesco Tiberi, director of Florence’s “Delle Murate” jail. In prison once again for a robbery, Lupo Tintori decides to escape on the night of November 4th 1966, the day in which the Arno river overflows its levees and floods the city. In the midst of the tragedy of the flood, constantly pursued by Tiberi, Tintori finds the way to redeem himself, becoming one of the “angels in the mud” who helped save the city’s treasures. |

September 11th, 1638: three hundred thousand Muslim soldiers, guided by Kara’ Mustafa’, are laying siege to the city of Vienna. Their goal is to open a way to invade Europe, reach Rome and turn San Pietro cathedral, the heart of Christendom, into a mosque. Inside the walls of Vienna the Austrians, greatly outnumbered, are bracing for a terrible defeat. But on the morning of September 12th an Italian friar, Marco d’Aviano, who was one of the counselors of Emperor Leopold I, incites Christian troops to victory. His faith and his strength, together with the brilliant war strategy of the Polish king Janos Sobieski, will lead the Holy League troops to victory. |
