.: "Porzus" 's plot

In 1945, the situation along the border with Yugoslavia is confused. National politics force the Italian Communist Party to sacrifice Italian interests in favor of Yugoslavian dictator Tito’s supremacy. The presence of a group of catholic-inspired partisans from the Osoppo brigade in the huts above Porzus, near Udine, creates uneasiness and embarrassment.

On February 7th, a group of communist partisans from the Garibaldi division reaches Porzus, captures the Osoppo brigade and accuses its members of cooperating with the fascists. The Osoppo fighters are executed in cold blood, in groups, in the space of 11 days. Only one of them manages to escape to tell us the story: Storno.

The movie, presented in the “Special Events” section of the 1997 Venice Festival, gave rise to strong controversies, although it describes events more than 50 years old, and was discussed for weeks in the Italian press.
